Working for 3M Brownwood

PRO’s

CON’s

Hello, my name is Richard McCarrell and want to talk about the history that I had with 3M. I started as a temp, spending 2 years with the company, and I got to say, it was great. Became full time not to long after, the happiest day of my life was when I was standing in front of a blue screen getting my ID made on August 16,2021. I made it through my first year with success and went on exploring other jobs throughout the plant (what can I say, I loved it) until I started having health issues, causing me a trip by ambulance to the hospital. I had another issue several months later, but fortunately for me I didn’t need to be taking by ambulance. Both times was stress induced, maybe it was the job that caused it, maybe it was caused outside of work, or maybe both causing an overload. None the less, i was recommended another job, and I went to that job, and to tell you the truth, it was great, I loved it. Then the problems started, it was like being in hostile territory, first it was the supervisor, then the operator, nonstop badgering. I wasn’t yielding, and 3 times I complained to HR, nothing was done, then they fabricated a reason to terminate my employment. The real reason I was terminated was based on my health, they didn’t like the idea of me walking up and down stairs 8 to 12 hours a day, I was a health liability.

For those wishing to apply, by all means do it, any other plant anyways. The Brownwood plant is corrupt as hell, they value favoritism and nepotism. They terminate good people and keep the bad ones. There are more CON’s than PRO’s, so let’s break that down. You get hired into job you don’t like, after your first year, you can bid for a new job, however what they don’t tell you, is that you have to complete another 4 years, yes that’s 48 months, you are susceptible to layoffs, and termination without reason. Bottom line until you have 5 total, you’re at risk. There is no union, so no help, and being a Right to Work state, you are sol. Now the HR department is a joke, report someone, that someone might be a friend, so be careful, in my case (I have some of the worst luck) HR also claims they have no decision in a termination, that’s corporate. So, what is the function of the HR department? (if you can figure that one out, let me know)

Bottom line they don’t care about you; you are just numbers to them. Age, race, religion, sex, or national origin doesn’t matter to them, they will just fabricate a reason to avoid a lawsuit. You report problems to HR, nothing is done.
